MatInvert

If you're involved in any kind of graphics, physics, astronomy, or mathematics, you probably need this little utility. It's simple enough: Feed it a matrix, up to 8x8, and it gives you the inverse, just like a little calculator. No messy command sequences or formulae to remember, and it's a lot easier than inverting matrices by hand. It's sufficiently easy to use that if you know what it means to invert a matrix, you'll be able to figure out how to use it.

Very suitable as an educational tool for math students, too.

Version 1.2 (Sep. 9, 2003) --- Adds new features:

  • Navigation of input cells by arrow keys and Enter.
  • Wider matrices, up to 8x8 instead of the old 5x5 limit.
  • Highlighting of input cells to show cells used.

Version 1.1 (Sep. 7, 2003) --- Fixes two minor bugs:

  • V1.0 used to display nothing when given a matrix whose main diagonal was zero. V1.1 now produces the correct inverse by reordering the rows before using Gauss-Jordan reduction.
  • V1.0 used to open in the top-left corner of the screen on some systems, which is annoying. V1.1 now opens in the center of the screen.
